• Energising the community

Kathleen McArthur’s capacity to lead, organise and stand for what she believed in inspired others to care for the natural environment and advocate for its preservation.

Her ability to change attitudes was of fundamental importance to the future of the Sunshine Coast’s natural environment, and nothing was too daunting for Kathleen in her conservation efforts. The community responded with conviction, becoming willing volunteers in hands-on help at a native plant nursery and wildflower shows, and in planting foreshore trees. As well they actively lobbied governments to protect wildflowers, wallum, waterways and dunes.
